The prices were very reasonable and the knowledge, attention to detail and service were all exceptional. I went there before the butte 100, felt like there was something wrong with my bike as it felt rough. It was a good thing as my crank was broken. Even though it was not a common part as was an older single speed with odd-sized chainring, they found someone in town who had it and had it on within an hour. They also identified several other broblems which would have prevented me from finishing my race, for example, a brake needing to be bled. In addition, I had been suffering with saddle sores for several years and was dubious that I would be able to finish, just due to that. Someone there also noticed thet they thought my saddle was too wide as I had a bad bike fit down in AZ. After radical changes to my bike fit I felt so much better and actually finished my race extremely comfortably despite the pre-existing active saddle sores, and it was the first time in several years that I did a long ride without a lot of pain.

LOVE these guys (and gals) at Bangtail. Needed a mountain bike for my son: he wanted a full-suspension; my budget could only accommodate a hard-tail. Rob Funderburk pointed us to a Plus-size (3") bike, which was simply not on my radar, and my son has been thrilled thrilled thrilled ever since.
What can i say...this place is the best! First, I haven't ridden a bike in 20 years. I wanted to get into gravel and road riding to help with health issues (being a lardass). I had an idea of what I wanted but needed to ride different bikes to decide. Amber and the folks a Bangtail let me ride several different bikes, one of them Amber's personal bike, to help me decide which way I wanted to go. I then bought a bike. It came fast and was set up for me. I then did a fitting with Amber because I had no idea how a bike should fit. She did a great and very thorough job measuring everything possible to assure the bike fit me as well as it could. I read a review that said this place is too expensive....if you want cheep go to Wal-mart. If you want an extremely high quality product and experience that could last you a lifetime go to Bangtail! I see myself going here for all my bike needs until I can no longer ride.
And that's what's so great about the shop: It's local, it's got a wide selection, and the staff has the experience to know exactly what you need even when you don't.
I was visiting Bozeman from North Carolina. Stopped into the shop to just check it out. I had questions about road bikes since I was considering purchasing a new road bike with disc brakes. Chris was great! He gave me plenty of information and things to consider even though he knew I was not going to purchase a bike from his store. When I left I told him I ws sorry I wasn't buying a bike from him. Great place!!!
